Strength, Hope and Resourcefulness Program for People with Parkinson's   (SHARP-PWP)

Researchers at the University of Alberta are currently seeking participants for a research study focusing on a six-week wellness group designed specifically for those recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.  The group will focus on building on personal strengths, inspiring hope, and finding resources while living with Parkinson's.

Who is eligible to participate in the study?

  • Patients with Parkinson disease who have been diagnosed within the last five (5) years
  • Those motivated to look at strengths and build hope in their lives
  • Those willing to build relationships with others while sharing stories, ideas and activities in a supportive and safe space
  • Those residing in or near Edmonton, or willing to drive into Edmonton to participate in the six week program

What is required of the participants?

Your participation will involve:

  • Attend a six (6) week wellness program at Hope House (11032 - 89 Ave) on the University of Alberta Campus
  • Complete a few short surveys before and after the program
  • Additionally, you may be asked to participate in an interview with one of the researchers to talk about your experience in the group
