Donate A Car Canada will look after all the details to sell your vehicle for a donation if the net sale proceeds to the Parkinson's Society Alberta! We will then send you a valuable tax receipt for that amount!
The Parkinson’s Society of Alberta has a great new way for our supporters and their friends, family, co-workers and even neighbors to help raise funds! We have just signed up with the folks at Donate a Car Canada Inc. whom have been operating in Calgary and Edmonton since 2005. The program is unique as it allows people to donate the drivable and good condition vehicles for tax-deductable receipt from the charity of their choice. Non-running or ‘salvage’ vehicles are not eligible for donation.
Donate A Car Canada can accept cars, trucks, boats, RV’s, trailers, quads, motorbikes and even airplanes! The will then look after the details to sell the vehicle at auction, on behalf of the vehicle owner, and the net sales proceeds are then forwarded to the charity selected by the donor. Depending on the age, condition and model of the vehicle, the the resulting donation amount can be anywhere from a few dollars to several thousand dollars! Vehicles are sold as ‘unreserved’ to guarantee the sale will occur. It also ensures the sale is legally considered ‘full and final’ so there is no possibility of the vehicle being returned by the buyer.
To donate your vehicle to the benefit of the Parkinson’s Society of Alberta, all you have to do is go to Donate A Car Canada’s website at www.donateacar.ca and complete their DONATE page. If you want to provide further details about your vehicle, or even ask a questions about your circumstances, there is a Comments section within the DONATE submission page. It is important to note too that if you can drive your car to their drop-off location in Calgary or Edmonton, this will help reduce processing costs, such as for towing, are kept to an absolute minimum and in the particular case of older or poor condition vehicles, that the cost will not exceed the sale result. It is important to the spirit of their program that the charity will in fact receive a donation.
After you’ve submitted your vehicle information at www.donateacar.ca , Donate A Car Canada will respond with their confirmation of your vehicle’s eligibility and give you complete instructions. You will need to provide proof of ownership with your vehicle registration as well as sign the Authorization Form so your donation can be directed to the Parkinson’s Society of Alberta. When the sale is complete and your donation is sent to us, we will most gratefully mail you a tax receipt for the amount we receive through this great program!

Our volunteers are the backbone of the Parkinson’s Society of Alberta (PSA). Last year, more than 200 volunteers contributed 7,000+ hours of their time with us. We sincerely appreciate their support in helping us help people living with Parkinson’s.
PSA Celebrate Our Volunteers
Tony Atkins: SuperWalk for Parkinson’s Volunteer
Tony Atkins has been a Teamsters Union member for 20 years and a Business Agent for 10 years. Tony has volunteered his time since 2003 by delivering the truck and trailer to Rundle Park in Edmonton and attending to all the setup and participating at the event every year.
The partnership between Teamsters Local 362 and The Parkinson’s Society of Alberta started five years ago. Teamsters provides the stage, sound equipment and additional storage for prizes and chairs for SuperWalk for Parkinson’s. Each year, Mr. Atkins has been instrumental in “making it happen,” even through some trying times. An example of this dedication was in August 2005 when Hurricane Katrina happened. The services of Teamsters Local 362 were called to assist with delivering food and product to the area. This was the week before the SuperWalk for Parkinson’s, and there was some uncertainty whether they would be able to return in time. Mr. Atkins assured the PSA office “one way or another [we] would have our stage and sound system,” even if they had to find another truck and trailer for us at their expense. This was amazing news for us. The Teamsters truck did return in time, arriving late the night before, and was at our event as promised.
This is truly an indication of the dedication and commitment we have received from Mr. Atkins and Teamsters Local 362.
