Parkinson's Daytime Sleepiness Study

The University of Alberta, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, is looking for volunteers to participate in a study to determine if bright light exposure has an effect on daytime sleepiness in Parkinson disease.

Who is eligible to participate in the study?

You are eligible to participate in this study if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • You have been diagnosed with Parkinson disease
  • You get sleepy and/or tired during the daytime
  • You live in Edmonton, AB or surrounding communities

What is required of the participants?

Your participation will involve:

  • A researcher will bring a light box to your home and show you how to use it
  • Use of the light box for thirty (30) minutes each day for three (3) weeks
  • Completion of three (3) - one (1) hour assessments with the researcher during the study
